Sega among notable domain name buyers over past week.
There are several notable end user domain name sales on GoDaddy/Afternic’s sales list from last week.
First, Sega bought DawnofWar.com for the video game title. Video game companies often buy names of existing games when they’re ready to ramp up the franchise.
Second, two departments of U.S. states paid fairly notable prices for four character domain names.

Bazer.com $4,250 – Bazer, LLC, a company in Phoenix
Rivertrade.com $2,200 – Private investment company Rivertrade Ltd, which owns Rivertrade.co.uk and Rivertrade.net.
MicrobiomeMatters.com $3,000 – Salix Pharmaceuticals, Inc. in North Carolina.
SimpleWater.com $3,750 – Water treatment technology company Water Tech Industries.
DawnOfWar.com $5,000 – Sega, which acquired the video game in an acquisition.
IrisWorldwide.com $1,888 – Ad agency Iris. The company uses Iris-Worldwide.com Losing the hyphen is obviously a big upgrade.
YourLogistics.com $2,188 – Worldwide shipping and logistics firm Worldnet Shipping.
BritishMarket.com $1,595 – Houston grocery store Goodwoods British Market.
ODFW.com $7,550 – Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife gets its acronym in .com.
AHTD.com $9,995 – Another state department…Arkansas Highway & Transportation Department
BizFi.com $1,800 – Business financing company Merchant Cash & Capital.
TheBookDC.com $3,150 – Museum of the Bible in Oklahoma City.
TheWhistle.net $1,200 – Sports site The Whistle, which already owns and uses the .com.
TheLandscapePros.com $1,250 – The Los Angeles-area landscaper that uses WeHangChristmasLights.com
ZenithSystems.com $2,950 – Building wiring and audio visual company Zenith Systems LLC. It uses the domain ZenithSystemsLLC.com, so this was a nice purchase.
CarpentersPlus.com $1,200 – DWC Construction in Nashville.
420Boxes.com $1,500 – Volo Trading, seller of a number of hemp and smoking products including boxes that will apparently keep the odor in.
MpireMedia.com $3,000 – Australian mobile messaging company MpireMedia, which uses MpireMedia.com.au.
CourageousLearning.com $2,346 – Excelsior College in Albany, New York.
TexanLawyers.com $1,688 – The Guerrero Law Offices in Dallas.
TouchInc.com $3,250 – Touch Screens Inc. in Saint George, Utah
FloridaTeeTimes.com $1,888 – PGA Professional Scott Luebke
CherryHillsApartments.com $1,200 – Forum Real Estate Group, which has purchased other apartment community names.
ConferenceSolutions.com $3,920 – NRG, maker of scheduling software for conventions
