Digging into .Club’s revenue and the economics of new TLDs.
New top level domain name company .Club landed on the 2018 Inc 5000. The Inc 5000 list shows that it had revenue of $7.2 million but I had lots of questions. Is this “real” revenue? Is the company profitable? This week we go straight to the source with .Club founder and CEO Colin Campbell. He explains the numbers, historical revenue and what he predicts for the future. It’s an eye-opening and unprecedented look into a private new TLD company.
Also: Other domain companies on the Inc 5000, trolling the NRA, Dreamhost, Dave Evanson’s big sale, Dynadot milestone and cruising with Hexonet.

Great interview guys…i own a few hundred .club domains all of which i hand registered, and all of which were a buck each at NameCheaps. Just for chits and giggles I reg’d PrescriptionRx.Club for a buck while listening to Andrew checking on the financing feature for Prescription.Club during the podcast.
I’m a “fan” of .club and own names like GOLFfan.club and BEERfan.club and GATORfan.club that appraise for over 2K each in the .com version. Actually PrescriptionRx(.)com appraises for $2.298.
My real point here is the .club extension in many cases is far better than the equivalent .com, but the arrogance and the ignorance plaguing the domain industry is overwhelming.
Good luck Colin, and let Jeff know we really need to talk.
I can laugh at you or offer my condolences
Domain Prince….your, and Snoopy’s and Derricks smart arse comments motivated me to register these .Club domains this evening;
FirstCar.Club
FirstDate.Club
FirstJob.Club
FirstKiss.Club
FirstHouse.Club
FirstBoat.Club
FirstBaby.Club
I suppose you never had a first car, a first job or even a first kiss even though you call yourself a Prince, lol
I’ll share just one lesson with you….about this time last year I registered FirstCarMemories(.)com for an internet business model that monetized this domain several different ways, from selling tee shirts, coffee and beer mugs, and commemorative license plates portraying your first car, to selling advertising to the likes of Ford, VW, GM etc. I even have a comprehensive plan of how to draw first car owners (virtually everyone) to the site. My business model when implemented to it’s fullest would generate a minimum of 10M in annual revenues. I doubt you can relate, but I’ve started businesses that are generating 10M plus in revenues today.
I know in your heart you believe FirstCar.Club is trash, but a $1 investment that has the potential to generate 10M of annual revs is PURE TREASURE anyway you define it:)
Thanks for the encouragement prince….maybe someday you’ll earn a crown.
You don’t know what you are doing.
These are terrible names. Even in .com they would be low quality.
Too funny Snoopy…do you even know what Golf, Beer or a Gator are? It’s hard to be a “fan” isn’t it? Arrogance or Ignorance…your choice.
What business is called gatorfan or beerfan? who are the buyers for your name and why would they close a poor quality term in a poor quality extension?
A high quality term in a poor quality extension might work, or a low quality term in a high quality extension. But if you get both sides of the equation wrong there isn’t going to be any real chance of a payout.
First, in case your aren’t aware, a domain name doesn’t have to be a business. One word domains that sell for millions of dollars aren’t businesses…..duh Snoopy! According to Namebio the domain: NBAFanClub(.)com sold for 5K in 2012 at Sedo. Also, “Club” is a high value keyword that has an “average” sale price of $1,875.
.Club may be a poor quality extension to you Snoopy, but what does a potential end user know about .Club as an extension???? They know “zero” about it, and therein lies the OPPORTUNITY. With over 100 Million Beer drinkers in the word, do you suppose any of them might just be “fans”???
I own hundreds of more .Club names that are actually “business names” Snoopy. Ex. ParadiseYacht.Club.
Finally…if you understand anything at all about risk vs.reward, you might understand why “investing” $1 in a name like BeerFan.Club or ParadiseYacht. Club might be worth the investment.
Richard, you registered hundreds of .club names at $1 each for a reason:- They’re junk. What’s your profit margin to date? Let’s best guess that it’s negative. Everyone else is giggling, whilst you got chitted on. You would have been better spending those hundreds of dollars on one acknowledged premium name. Quality not quantity.
Disagree. Would have been better off buying only beer and no domains at all.
derrick…it’s pretty obvious you’ve never been in business. My profit margin “to date” is a little over 500% in that I’ve sold just one of my .Club domains to an entrepreneur and developer for a whopping $1,200 or $100 per month.
btw…that’s profit margin “to date”, if you even know what that means. I also have verbal commitments to sell two more .club domains to actual clubs that I belong to. Do they know anything about you and the domain industry?….only what I’ve taught them, lol!
What may be “junk” to you my boy, is like “gold” to me:)
