Interesting .tv sale, but not surprising considering Mark Cuban and Carlos Slim both using .TV domains for their companies:
AXS.TV
ORA.TV

Once again REAL domain sales hover around $2000 for relatively good names. Would love to see a blind test where domainers appraise these names THEN the sale prices shown. I expect the descrepency would be hilarious and likely 300%-500% away from real market value. No other industry could tolerate this margin of error and unfortunately domaining is no longer immune to reality.

@street kid, i recall this discussion/suggestion came up some time ago in comments. it was even suggested to andrew to hold such a survey, but nothing ever eventuated.
i must be brutally honest and say that holding such a survey (IMO) would damage the domainer industry and that is why it has never been done.
it would expose 2 brutal truths: 1) that often domains sell for far higher than what their real value is as judged by the domainer “experts”, and 2) that many domainers often far over-value their domains and ask for ridiculously high prices.
in both cases it would provide ammunition for end user buyers to demonstrate that they are being ripped off. i imagine that’s why nobody dares to do such a test.
