Afternic had a solid sales week last week thanks to a $500,000 domain name sale (the name was not disclosed).
A billionaire – technically his hedge fund – spent a lot less than that on his personal name.
Billionaire Bruce Kovner, chair of one of the world’s largest hedge funds, Caxton Associates, paid $2,395 for BruceKovner.com.

Video game developer Supermassive Games bought Starshape.com for $23,000, likely for a new game.
Phuket, Thailand vacation rental site AwesomeVillas.com bought AwesomeRetreats.com for $1,344.
The owner of Adamas.ru bought Adamas.net for $1,755. They don’t own the .com.
Internal Medicine & Proctology Center of Fort Lauderdale paid $1,688 for UltraTherapy.com.
AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies paid $1,595 for OurInsight.com.
Old Dominion University‘s Research Foundation bought GEODE.net for $4,388.
Port Medical Management made a nice upgrade at a nice price, going from PortMedical.net to PortMedical.com for $1,000.
Vacation HotDeal Companies Inc picked up ResortCondos.com for $5,525.
It’s Academic, maker of LockerMate school locker accessories, bought LockerMate.com for $2,000.
The CEO of Granite Transformations, a kitchen counter remodeling company, bought BathroomTransformations.com for $1,488. The registrant organization is a different company, though.
Telecom network company Peachtree Networks bought the shorter domain PTNW.com for $1,250.
Focus 28 Inc, a weight loss company, paid $2,188 for HormonePill.com.
HCA-HealthONE LLC in Colorado paid $1,888 for YourCancerTreatment.com.
The guy who runs social music player BeatRobo.com bought BeatPlug.com for $1,295.

Nice too to see someone just simply buying their own domain name (Bruce Kovner) from a domain investor, instead of going postal on them and issuing a UDRP (which ends up costing them way more in fees anyway..)
