Nice interview guys, Joe is the outbound whisperer for sure, although in this case I think they let the name go way too cheap. RE: Leasing… at the 17:00 mark when Andrew addressed the lessees ‘intended use of the domain’, the conversation somehow reverted back to ‘defaulting on payment’ narrative.
I think it is important to note that when leasing out a valuable domain, it’s crucial for the owner to have a clear understanding of a potential lessee’s plans for the domain upfront. This insight not only gauges the prospective success of their intentions but also helps in mitigating risks related to domain misuse, negative search engine indexing, or even bans. Such damages can be long-lasting and challenging to rectify, potentially diminishing the asset’s value and reputation. Further to that would to have an AUP in place that outlined associated penalties or damages fees for breeches or misuse that could result in the domain owner losing the name due to issues like trademark infringement.
