Mark Monitor is now part of Clarivate Analytics, so it makes sense that the company went long on defensive domain registrations.
Some company had registered a lot of domain names containing the word Clarivate and typos of it at brand registrar MarkMonitor.
Well, it turns out it was MarkMonitor itself.
MarkMonitor was part of Thomson Reuters’ Intellectual Property and Science Business, which was sold to a private equity firm. The companies that made up this business at Thomson Reuters are now part of a company called Clarivate Analytics.
So it should come as no surprise that the company did a pretty good job protecting its intellectual property ahead of the launch. It missed some ccTLDs, but picked up a lot of obscure ones.
