A lot of political domain names became worthless after last month’s election, but Trump’s win ensured that names with “Trump” in them remained popular.
Over 9,000 .com domain names with Trump in them were registered last month, including nearly 3,000 the day he was elected. Of course, many of these domains were pro-Trump and others were anti-Trump.
Trump’s dominance of the top 10 trending keywords in .com last month wasn’t limited to just the word Trump. He took 7 spots on the list, followed by 2 for marijuana (also a boon after the election). Here are the top 10 trending keywords last month, according to Verisign:
1. Trump
2. Make
3. Great
4. Weed
5. Again
6. America
7. Donald
8. Near
9. President
10. Pot
So how did the term “near” sneak onto the list? Someone registered a bunch of domains in the form productnameNearme.com, such as IonizedWaterNearMe.com and UrgentCaresNearMe.com.
Trump, make great weed again! America Donald, near president, Pot[us]?
