Second day of NamesCon is about to start.
The first full day of NamesCon in Las Vegas yesterday was a big success. Sure, like any brand new conference, there were a couple hitches here and there. But overall the crowd was big, the content was great, and reviews have been positive.
If you aren’t at the show, I invite you to follow me on twitter for photos and updates about the show as they happen.
I also posted a couple live blogs from yesterday – one for a “meet the new TLDs” panel and the other for Frank Schilling’s keynote.
The second day kicks off at 9:45 local time this morning with two keynotes – one from .CEO’s Jodee Rich and the other by Jeremy Schoemaker, aka Shoemoney. There will be breakout sessions throughout the afternoon.

You know, some of old dogs don’t use Twitter, Facebook, or anything like that. ๐

@Andrew
I loved your DomainsCon Twitter feed which said that the Las Vegas Mayor accidentally referred to Vegas.Com instead of .Vegas!
Holy $%^$%^! That is HILAREOUS! I couldn’t stop laughing. Totally not kidding!
Did the gtld hopefuls in room realize that that was a clear sign to pack it up and go home? If not, they should have. Did they have any idea how incredibly serious that inadvertent mistake that was? Was the awkward silence afterwards deafening? Did the organizer or MC look like he wanted to cry?
Like it or not, that tiny little faux pax will be unintentionally replicated enough times to totally devastate whatever it is they hope to achieve. That same error makes gtld-land uninhabitable and unsuitable for future commercial development. To use a real estate analogy, it’s like building a community in an area perpetually infested with malaria.
As far as I am concerned, the entire conference was TOTALLY undermined by that one, unintentional slip-up.
Sorry, Team Schilling. Game, set, match goes to Team Schwartz as recently decided by the Mayor of Las Vegas.
Andrew, if you are still there, you are wasting your time. Come on home and renew your .com’s.

I think you’re right and this comment just made my day ๐
However, I believe a lot of Americans both forget and underestimate the value of larger ccTLD’s.
