Internet Commerce Association Has Busy Agenda

Domainer’s group has busy schedule fighting for domain owners’ rights.

Over the past month Internet Commerce Association (ICA) has stepped up efforts to inform the domain community about its activities. Current issues and updates are available on the home page of its web site. Here’s a quick summary:

Representing domainers in Mexico City – ICA Counsel Philip Corwin made remarks on behalf of domainers during a discussion of new top level domains. The video at the end of this article summarizes some of these concerns, including the over-reaching GAC representing government interests.

Registration Abuse – ICA joined a working group on registration abuse.

ICANN policy forum – the organization attended the ICANN Policy Forum held at the headquarters of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce last month.

New York law in response to Kentucky domain seizure? – ICA is closely following a proposed law in New York that would classify computers as gambling devices. This is certainly a proactive step in response to Kentucky’s bid to seize gambling domain names.

There are additional updates on ICA’s web site.
