Premium revenue continues to grow for new top level domain operator.
Top level domain name company Radix reported that its premium domains grossed about $4.64 million at the retail level in the first half of this year across its 10 TLDs.
That’s up 22% compared to the same period a year before and about the same increase compared to the second half of 2022.
As with any SaaS business, renewal revenue continued to grow, accounting for $3.25 million in H1. It was $2.74 million in the second half of 2022. That leaves $1.39 million in new registration revenue.
These numbers are based on what registrars grossed, not what the registry received.
.Tech led the way with 510 new registrations grossing $484k. Other top TLDs included:
.Online – 370 for $256k
.Store – 319 for $213k
.Space – 294 for $192k
.Site – 219 for $105k
The domains ranked the same way for renewal revenue.
GoDaddy, Namecheap, and Google accounted for the most new premium registrations in that order. (The loss of Google as a registrar could impact these numbers in the future, although presumably, many people will search at other registrars that sell premium domains.)
