These changes should help sell more premium domain names.
I was recently searching for domains on GoDaddy and noticed a few interesting things about how it presents premium domain names listed through Afternic.
Lease-to-own
GoDaddy appears to be testing different ways of presenting lease-to-own offers. This is how it looked on several domains I checked yesterday:
The lease option is very prominent, taking up half of the sales message.
Last week, my search looked very different. The lease option was shown, but it wasn’t as prominent. GoDaddy had added some language about leasing, noting that no credit check was required and there was no penalty if you stopped paying. I imagine these are common questions the company gets about long-term payment deals.
Verified Domains
GoDaddy is showing if the domain is part of the Fast Transfer network:
When you hover over “Verified Domain”, it notes that Verified Domains are:
- Listed by a trusted seller
- Typically take less than an hour to get control of, compared to 7-10 days for non-verified domains
This would have been helpful to know when I recently bought domains that ended up being stale listings. I didn’t know if they were Fast Transfer or not.
Premium domain help
Users see context-appropriate help when they search for a domain that’s listed for sale:
When users click on “What’s a Premium Domain?” the chatbot explains what a premium domain is, and users can ask to chat with a GoDaddy representative.
I think all three of these implementations are helpful for selling domain names.

Thanks for sharing!
This “verified domain” is a cool thing to be added.

I agree! Curious, being in Türkiye, do they ever show the LTO option? If so, does it require paying in $USD?
Andrew Allemann says
Afternic has confirmed that LTO is only in us for now. Makes sense given the currency issue

Good updates

Thanks. On a related note I wish GoDaddy would clear up the problem by which if you have a domain listed at Afternic with different Minimum Offer and Buy Now prices, the Minimum Offer is erroneously listed the same as the Buy Now price on GoDaddy Auctions.
