Domain investors can filter inventory to find bargains.
GoDaddy has released a beta search tool to help domain investors find good values within Afternic’s inventory.
The Afternic Advanced Search tool is available to anyone with access to Domain Academy. Domain Academy is free to customers with GoDaddy’s Domain Discount Club membership.
Think of it as “expireddomains.net lite” for Afternic’s inventory. Among the search and filtering functions:
- Search terms
- Category, e.g., animals, dictionary verbs, dictionary nouns
- TLDs
- Pattern
- Price
- Character length
- Syllables
- Number of extensions registered for the SLD
- Exclude hyphens, numbers, special characters
I’ve used the tool for a few hours and found some good bargains I purchased. While most domains are priced well by domain investors, there are opportunities if you know what you’re looking for. Also, a lot of inventory is added by end users using GoDaddy’s List for Sale feature, so you might find some “mispriced” domains.
I have many other thoughts and feature ideas for the tool, but you’ll have to wait until Monday’s Domain Name Wire Podcast to learn more. Joe Styler, who now manages Domain Academy, is my guest.
One of the best search parameter I would like for them to add in, is the ability to search for names that are lease to own. I’ve made numerous Investment purchases in some lease to own names when I accidental come across them. I would purchase more if I knew which ones exist.
That’s a good idea
I just signed up but I think it’s the same results as Godaddy Auctions?
It has a lot more ways to search than auctions filters provide currently. So you can search by number of words or things like colors or animals etc where on auctions you cannot. The search tool is similar in some ways but more robust than the current auctions search.
