Media Code LLC sells .gg domain for record price.
Domain investor Logan Flatt’s company Media Code LLC has sold sports.gg for $96,000, a record for publicly-released .gg domain aftermarket sales.
.Gg is the country code for Guernsey, but .gg domains have been adopted by the sports and esports community as short for “good game.”
Flatt told Domain Name Wire he woke up to an email from Afternic on Saturday morning informing him that the domain had sold at the “buy now” price. He was using Afternic’s Buy It Now landers.
It was a great return for Flatt, who bought the domain name on DNWE.com in June 2020 for less than $1,000.
28 months later, he sold the domain for nearly six figures.
He said he originally priced sports.gg at $74,988 but raised it when he sold eth.gg for $49,955 in April 2021. (Until he sold sports.gg, eth.gg was the most expensive .gg sale.)
The buyer is listed as FZ-C.L.L NETWORK STEP in Whois.
The sale will propel Media Code’s 2022 sales results forward. When Logan was on a panel at NamesCon at the beginning of September, his year-to-date sales tally was $182,000.
You can listen to Flatt talk about his sales this year on DNW Podcast #404 and understand what he looks for in .gg domains in episode #352.
