A chocolatier, comedy bar and orthodontics company bought domain names last week.
It’s time for the weekly rundown of end user domain name sales that took place at Sedo over the past week. This list includes only the domain names I was able to discover by viewing Whois records and updated websites, so it’s only a subset.
Many domains are still in escrow and others have Whois privacy. For example, I’ll keep an eye on PayEther.com, which sold for $45,000. That’s not bad for a domain registered in 2014! The domain name is under Whois privacy and resolves to a parked page right now.
OK, here’s the list of end user domain sales:
(You can view previous lists like this here.)
Medically.com $53,000 – Medcare, Inc. in Japan. It is forwarding the domain to medically.co.jp, which isn’t an active site yet.
Wawel.com $18,000 – Wawel S.A. is a chocolate maker in Polan that uses the domain name wawel.com.pl.
ComedyBar.com $4,750 – The Comedy Bar in Chicago upgraded from ComedyBarChicago.com
SmileMate.com $4,500 – Orthodontic Centres of Australia
Debain.com €3,500 – Kudos to the buyer of this domain for considering the radio test. They’re getting ready to launch a swimwear site at Debayn.com…but who can spell that?
PortugueseProperty.com £2,700 – Real estate site PortugalProperty.com
Tinabi.com $3,000 – Tinabi AB. I can’t find anything about this company.
M168.com $6,000 – The owner has Whois privacy but the domain resolves to an online casino called M168.
BTCxChange.com €4,900 – A new bitcoin exchange.
USAGreenCard.com $5,000 – The domain resolves to a Russian-language site about getting a U.S. green card.
StaySafe.org $5,000 – I’m not sure who is behind this safety website. The privacy policy is blank and About Us is sparse.
HighNoon.org $2,000 – The domain resolves to a coming soon site that says the group will create “sexual integrity”. That could mean a lot of things.
CPOPC.org $2,000 – Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries.

Used my same old bookmark to GoDaddy.com to check if Payeth.com was available and the entire GoDaddy site is defaulting to Espanol.
Payeth sounds like an 11th commandment. Thou shalt Payeth

I think the m168.com was a great buy for that end user, as the next best thing in China to 888 is 168, so finding a 4 character domain that begins or ends with 168 is not easy. I secured r168.com a couple years ago relatively inexpensively, but the rest were not for sale or asking 4-5 digits.
