Donuts sells two-letter domain name for six figures.
New top level domain name company Donuts has sold the domain name co.LTD for $115,000, the company revealed today.
.LTD is a corporate identifier top level domain name and is short for “limited”. There are about 25,000 .ltd domain names in the zone.
The buyer is listed in whois as Hangzhou E-Business Institute and uses the email address [email protected]. Eb.ac.cn does not resolve, and neither does ac.cn. However, if you Google ac.cn, you’ll find a number of working subdomains under ac.cn, all of which seem to be connected to science and education groups.
It’s possible the buyer is the owner of LTD.com. The registrant name, city and province match for both whois records. LTD.com sold for $184,000 on NameJet last year.
Donuts’ six-figure domain name sale comes on the heels of Rightside’s two six-figure sales in the .live domain name: sex.live for $160,000 and porn.live for $120,000.
This must be a good news to those who owns new tlds. Last time the news was about .live domain names and this time it’s .ltd. Any way thank you or sharing this news.
Congrats to Donuts! @Andrew, .ac.cn is the .cn second level domain for academic institutions, and eb.ac.cn is registered to “Hangzhou Institute of Electronic Commerce” (translated!) so that fits right along with your research. https://whois.cnnic.cn/WhoisServlet?queryType=Domain&domain=eb.ac.cn
Thanks for the added info, Paul!
