Free domains will boost total .Berlin registration numbers.
.Berlin got off to a nice start thanks to a free .Berlin promotion. A new promotion may propel the domain name to the #1 slot on the new top level domain name charts.
Officially, 20 registrars are offering .Berlin domain names for no more than 5.55 euros from June 16-21. But that max is just a max, and some registrars are giving the domain names away for free.
InternetX, for example, will let you register up to 50 .Berlin domain names at no cost. And if you want more, you might be able to get them after emailing a request.
This is different from Network Solutions’ .xyz giveaway in two ways. First, customers have to actually register the domain names. They won’t be stuffed in their accounts. Second, customers can pick and choose whatever domain names they want.
With generous limits, will this propel .Berlin to the #1 spot on the new top level domain name leaderboard this week?

Like I said, very different from .xyz for sure. I imagine part of the goal in the .xyz giveaway was to not give “good domains”. Surely “good” .Berlin domains will be taken in this giveaway.

Strange. When I submit a .berlin domain it shows it as live. You didn’t check a box down below .berlin with the other names, did you?
Check the box next to LIVE and press continue below “Shopping cart”. The next page shows the pre-registration info.
