A look at a busy week in the domain name industry.
This is going to be a big week for domain names. Here’s some stuff to keep your eyes on:
ICANN is meeting in Cartagena, Colombia. This is going to be a big meeting. On Friday the board will vote on its way forward for new top level domain names. There’s a lot of pressure — including input from the U.S. Department of Commerce — that could slow things down. But there’s also a lot of pressure to go forward. ICANN is facing immense pressure from both sides.
Go Daddy is getting ready to party. The company will hold its annual holiday shindig this weekend at Chase Field in Phoenix. I talked briefly with Bob Parsons on Sunday and he said he’s going to spend about $4 million on the party. Yes, $4 million.
Final auctions of the year are coming to a close. Sedo’s final Great Domains auction of 2010 ends December 9. The company also has a personal portfolio auction with some strong keyword domains ending December 14.

sad to don’t be part of the GoDaddy’s party 🙂
Bob knows the right way to spend the money we give him 🙂

I hope bob is using his own cash not what I paid to renew my domain for 10 years.
