Domain name parking alternative introduces new ad feed option.
Domain name parking alternative WhyPark today announced it has a new advertising feed option for web sites using its service.
The improved ad feed is implemented similar to a two-click domain parking page. Instead of showing contextually relevant ads on the home page of sites, it displays a search box and “related links”. Submitting a search or clicking a related link takes users to a page of sponsored ads.
WhyPark founder Craig Rowe told me the results of using this new ad feed are immediate:
As soon as we made the switch [from direct ads on the home page to two-click ads using the new feed], the click-throughs increased, bounce rate dropped and time on site increased significantly. I think people are sick of seeing ads or having them pushed in their faces at least.
Customers can continue to use their own ads, such as affiliate ads or Google Adsense. But Rowe believes the new ad feed will perform as well or better.
I think the concept is great but just like comment in the movie Jerry McQuire
“show me the money!!!”
I have bounced from one ppc company to another.
Parked and Fab’s landers are more appealing to me.
But, that is not always the case when you look at the bottom line.
I believe I’m getting the better/best deals with most of the ppc companies.
How do you/we know if you are getting a fair shake with WhyPark?
Once, you get on board with these companies, how do you/we know if they are not changing the payout as time goes along.
When it comes to ppc companies, I often wonder if Eric’s cartoon from last summer applies.

@ domainer – I guess if you don’t trust them then you can add your own Adsense…and hope Google isn’t changing your payout % 🙂
I was interested to check out the new Whypark pages, so visited them after reading your post. I went to the “success stories” section where they feature AirlineRewards.com. Checking out this site, the first impression is quite impressive and looks like a “real” website. However, when I clicked on any of the “related searches” such as “airline miles” all I got was ads for “free porn” or “credit cards”. Obviously some bugs with the new ad feeds…
@ Marg – hmmm, shows relevant ads for me. Are you in the U.S.?
Hi Andrew, I’m not in the US, I’m in Canada. However, when I checked again this morning, I’m now getting relevant ads. Not sure what that glitch was when I checked last night. Good to know, as the new Whypark pages look a lot better than the earlier versions.
I use WhyPark and the revenues do seem to be going up with the new ad format in place. I like the look & the option it provides the viewers. However I dont think we can use AdSense on WhyPark yet, (“add your own Adsense…and hope Google isn’t changing your payout “) the ads dont seem to show up. Overall the new improvements are making me like WhyPark again.
John – lots of people use Adsense on WhyPark. Did you check ten minutes after your created the ad code?
Andrew – I have indeed. I originally bought WhyPark about 2 years ago & had no problem with the ads being displayed. However after the original google slap they encountered, my ads would not display. Since that time I have added original content, switched dns settings, I have tried almost everything possible. I still believe that a lot of domains that were hosted on WhyPark were flagged by google to not show ads. Out of 100 WhyPark domains only 5 will show my AdSense ads. I know Craig has always said that we can use google, but I think only on newly submitted domains. (a sample is minorityloans.org – you can check the source to see that the google code is in the html)
Any advice on this topic would greatly be appreciated.
By the way I have even developed a few of the domains I had on WhyPark, and they will not show AdSense even once they have 100% original content, layout, html, etc… No Clue
*John: This issue should be easily handled by Whypark support. You can reach them at support@whypark.com
*Domainer: We’ve all talked about the lack of transparency with PPC, Google, and everyone else who we have to trust to pay us our fair share of revenue. I don’t have an answer to that other than to say WhyPark isn’t a company plays games with revshare payouts.
For the record, I believe WhyPark is a required part of a domainers’ tools in monetizing their domain portfolio. If many of your domains are sitting at PPC landing pages with no traffic, they aren’t getting indexed either, so you’re losing value every hour. Your only solution is to bring those non-performers to Whypark and build out relevant content on them for organic search traffic. A one-time fee of $99 for 100 domains ($.99 ea) gets you a lot of progress in getting some value and possible revenue from your deadwood.
Thanks for the story, Dub-A
