Unique idea drives hundreds of domain aftermarket sales.
It’s been about six months since I first wrote about PushToAuction.com, a service that lists domain names that people are willing to send to an auction on Sedo with a $60 offer.
The service was active for a couple months before Domain Name Wire’s story, and since launch it has helped sell 426 domain names for $126,901. That’s an average of $298.
The value to sellers is clear: list domain names on the site that you are willing to send to an auction at Sedo if someone bids at least $60. Given the attention paid to Sedo Auctions, good generic domain names are sure to snag more bids before they close.
For example, Bid.info was listed on the site and ended up selling for $2,350.
To decide which domain names are good candidates for PushToAuction.com, read “When Should You Send a Sedo Offer to Auction?”
Buyers also benefit, as they can potentially find a good domain names that can be won on Sedo for low prices.
There are nearly 4,000 domain names listed on PushToAuction and over a dozen with active Sedo auctions. Current auctions that were initiated thanks to PushToAuction.com include RRFD.com ($110), iUnitedStates.com ($110), and BC0.com ($160).

Sedo charges 10%, they make 25% of that. Sedo share: 12.5K
Their share: 3,125$
Six months work. No thanks !!!!!!

Actually we don’t get a commission on sales, Sedo’s partner program doesn’t pay out on them. We’ve gotten about $15 in commissions from Sedo from people going on to order other products.
We’re not doing it for the money, we’re doing it because it is something the industry needs. I’m proud to be a part of something that has generated so many sales for the community that probably wouldn’t have happened otherwise.

If you are not doing it for the money then why are you doing it?
Is this a charity?
Unless you are subsidizing the loss or have some bigger business plan, I wonder if this service will still be offered in a few months.
Any thoughts?
Why wouldn’t sedo pay you?
Domain Name Media says
Featured listings, ad sales, and donations more than cover the server costs, so no, it isn’t a charity. Also, the site is completely automated, so the cost of running it is extremely low. Even if all the small revenue streams dried up I could run the site forever.
I’m not sure why the aren’t paying but my best guess is, as expected, once it gets pushed to auction Sedo’s wide audience kicks in. The person who started the auction through my affiliate link probably rarely wins, so no commission would be involved.
I mostly just use the partner ID to track clicks through to Sedo, but if it gets a small commission here and there all the better. Since we launched in May we have sent more than 64,000 clicks to Sedo listings.

Sedo does pay out on sales, but as mentioned above you have to refer the person who wins the domain. So if the person PTA sent bought it every time, they would get $3,125…but obviously this isn’t the case.
Rob Sequin says
Thanks. Maybe you should give them and namejet a call and see who would pay you since you are obviously adding revenue.
Good luck.
