Tucows’ own domain names available for instant transfer on GoDaddy.
During Tucows’ investor conference call yesterday, company CEO Elliot Noss announced that the company had completed its technical integration with GoDaddy to sell its owned and operated domain names in the registration path.
The deal is similar to one struck by NameMedia to list its owned and operated portfolio of domains on GoDaddy. When someone searches for a domain that is available for sale, they can instantly purchase the domain and get it transferred into their account.
Every domainer has similar capabilities using GoDaddy’s Premium Listings service. This requires your domains to be registered at GoDaddy and carries a 30% commission.
Tucows said the acquisition of EPAG has gone well. Noss said there are no immediate plans for further acquisitions because the company feels it has better opportunities for business growth in house.
Noss also made an intriguing comment about the company’s plans for new TLDs:
As we look out to 2012 we have opportunities before us that may require us to invest a little more capital than others have required us in the past. These would mostly be capital expenditures not operating expenses. Specifically here we are thinking about Ting and new GTLDs
There may be some capital investments required to onboard new TLDs. But this could also mean Tucows plans to apply for new TLDs itself. No analyst on the call inquired about this statement.

I’m a little confused. Are you suggesting (and maybe I’m misreading the article) that Tucows is in a position to acquire GoDaddy?
I somehow don’t see them having that much stature/buying power.
Andrew Allemann says
@batfan no, but i can see how the headline may have suggested that. I updated the headline.
