Owner of Identify.com files trademark applications.
A recent trademark filing tipped me off to an unannounced sale of a great domain name: identify.com.
Brand Enforcement Services Limited of Hong Kong just filed two “intent to use” trademarks for Identify and Identify.com with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The trademark is for “Providing a website featuring information about the management of intellectual property; Advertising; Business management; Business administration; Office functions”.
I researched the whois history on the domain name. Software giant BMC Software owned the domain name until August 22, 2011, when the domain transferred to Amitah Singh of Palo Alto. The domain name was later protected by GoDaddy’s whois proxy service.
When BMC owned the domain name it forwarded to the company’s Application Problem Resolution service. BMC got the Identify.com domain name when it acquired Identify Software in 2006.
I can’t find any record of an announced domain sale.
In other domain development news, the owner of Spectacular.com just filed an intent-to-use trademark application for “Spectacular”.

Interesting backgrounder Andrew.
Does anyone know if an intent-to-use TM filing common practice for domain names and what ballpark cost is involved?
