Feature verifies ownership before allowing fixed price sale.
[Update: read comments from Sedo for clarification of domains this covers.] Sedo has announced a new feature called “Sell Now Assurance” for domain names on its site listed with fixed prices.
The feature will verify that the seller still owns the domain name before a buyer can complete a “buy now” purchase. If Sedo is unable to verify ownership then then only a “make offer” sale will be possible. This will allow the seller to verify that they still own the domain before proceeding.
Sedo’s MLS system already performs automatic checks for premium listings. Last week when I wrote about how Sedo and Afternic automate the removal of domain listings for “distributed listings”, SedoMLS Product Manager Simonetta Batteiger said the company was extending this safety net.
This is a smart move for Sedo and will improve the site’s reputation for marketplace integrity.

Andrew,
Thank you for posting this update. In order to take advantage of this new feature domains have to be activated for SedoMLS Premium.
Activation is simple and can be started from here: http://sedo.com/us/sell-domains/sedomls/?tracked=&partnerid=&language=us

Simonetta – so sell now assurance is only for MLS Premium? I thought it already existing on MLS Premium?
Simonetta says
It is for domains that are active in SedoMLS Premium, but trade on our regular marketplace.
It has so far only worked for names sold on our partner sites. It now also works for names sold in our marketplace.
We recognize the need and are working on several solutions that will expand this to more names.
