Plea deal gives Escorts.com domain to government.
I just finished reading the plea bargain (pdf) between National A-1 and associated defendants and the U.S. government.
The defendants have agreed to pay $1.5 million in fines and forfeit $4.9 million as well as the Escorts.com domain name.
Which begs the question…what will the U.S. Government do with the Escorts.com domain name?
Here are some of my guesses:
1. Congressmen create ode to Pamela Martin and Associates for many years of faithful service.
2. Sell domain name to Eliot Spitzer.
3. Park the domain name.
OK, so this is really a serious matter. But sometimes when companies and governments seize domain names they end up having some stuff under their control that they’d probably rather not.

They should auction them.
Michael says
They’ll probably auction them, and National A1 will win the auction. Rinse and repeat.

Sex sells.
Abdu says
They will probably hand it over to ICE. It will remain as a seized domain – no parking no aftermarket.
Bryan G says
That’s some serious $$. Any idea how much they were making per year?
John says
Keeping Escorts.com is the least of A-1’s problems and not their biggest worry. The government still retain the right to prosecute individuals within the company…

Some government agency will probably list it with other seized property and no one in the domain industry will even know about the auction until after the domain is sold.
Somebody will get a great deal on Escorts.com.
Gnanes says
They should lease the domain to a company.
Mike Berkens says
Probably the same thing they did with maxhardcore’s domains

Well; Bill Clinton’s ears were seen to perk up on hearing the news …
