Big domain purchase made sense for buyer.
It’s always interesting to get inside someone’s mind after they make a major domain name purchase. Earlier today HomeInsurance.com CEO Carlos Lagomarsino was kind enough to give me some insight into his $570,000 purchase of HomeownersInsurance.com, which was announced today.
Lagomarsino is obviously an expert in the home insurance arena with his HomeInsurance.com site. He purchased HomeInsurance.com back in 2007 for about $1 million. His experience made this purchase easier, although he still went above his budget of $500,000.
He used GoDaddy to help close the deal.
“I reached out to the owner via my contact Brad Larson at Godaddy.com,” said Lagomarsino. “Brad did a wonderful job of negotiating this sale for us and I am impressed with his and Godaddy’s professionalism.”
Lagomarsino believes HomeownersInsurance.com isn’t worth as much as HomeInsurance.com because there are considerably more searches for the latter. Still it should pay dividends.
“We are very excited about this purchase because we will end up putting it through the same process that took HomeInsurance.com to the number one spot on a Home Insurance search,” he explained. “We’ve learned quite a bit in developing HomeInsurance.com and we should be able to apply our learning very quickly and monetize this new site in record time.”
His company is still looking to buy domains, but only premium ones.
Congrats to both the buyer and seller.

Good insight on the acquisition. Finally an article on the multi-talented Brad Larson. This gent has been handling, assisting, managing and leading the way on premium domain sales at Go Daddy for years. Kudos all around!

Nice domain, nice deal. Insurance domains are great blue chip investments.

Brad Larson is a class act and we are glad to have him as our executive rep.
I am not surprised to hear of his success in this effort. In fact I called hime yesterday P.M. to personally thank him for the personal attention he provided to alert us to a Gdad tool that allowed me to capture a premium domain name related to our business.
BTW We are sitting on hybrid insurance related names and waiting for the go-green effort to take off. Insurance inquiries make great qualified leads.

Many people don’t like Brad Larson but to me he is a very good person and a pro at what he does.
Congratulations on a well done deal.

This is interesting! I happen to own CarOwnerInsurance.com, can anyone kindly advise how I can contact Brad Larson to see if he can help broker a sale. I appreciate any advice here.
Thanks
Robert

Robert,
CarOwnerInsurance.com is worth maybe $200-$300; you don’t need a broker for that pile of steaming crap, mate 🙂

@viperD
You probably would have said the same for HomeOwnerInsurance.com before it sold for $570k. The bottom line is a domain is worth whatever it is to the buyer who really wants to develop the domain, as in the case of this sale. My guess is you’re using some kind of computer valuation which is generally illogical as domain sales history demonstrates. But then you are welcome to your own opinion lol!

Great domain, great sale. From personal experience, Brad Larson is a great guy.

Brad is the best rep I have ever used at any company. I could not be happier with him.
Regarding “Car Owner Insurance, com” — nobody uses those words in that context, but they sure do on “Home Owner Insurance.com”.
That is why Car Owner Insurance is worth significantly less. I don’t know about $300, but maybe $3,000 to $8,000, just for it’s development potential — not for direct navigation traffic, which I suspect has little to none.

This guy knows what he is doing. He is buying up geo domain name and generic. Why do you think he has cash to buy.
Also why crack on the guy a gd. He helped them make a great deal.. To many of you are jealous of people doing well.
He also owns other geo domain names, this guy probably will be bought out someday for 50 to 100 million.

Brad Larson is worth every penny he earns. The man will not only get your vision inline, but he will carve out the path with you and go the extra mile to make sure you achieve your goal. As a former CEO now retired, I cant count on 2 hands the amount of people with the character Brad has. Btw, great sale.
