GetAFreelancer Upgrades domain to Freelancer.com

Work exchange web site improves its image with new domain name.

GetAFreelancer, a service exchange for freelance programmers, web designers and copywriters, has upgraded its domain name to Freelancer.com, reports TechCrunch. The purchase price was in the “six figures”.

Although GetAFreelancer.com isn’t nearly as good as Freelancer.com, the company was still able to create a good business, scoring over one million registered users to date.

Freelancer was also a popular PC game a few years ago. Just a small factoid for the readers. :)

Thaks for always being the first with these scoops. Be great to find out how much they paid. Would be prudent for them to report as other domain news outlets would pick up and report and theyb would surely get a little traffic burst. can’t hurt. do your best! always nosey to know ‘how much’ lol

Vacation, Andrew is excellent with bringing news to us quickly. And, he is very thorough in supplying all the info he knows.

But, he clearly stated that TechCrunch was the publication that broke the news.

It always fascinates me that the people worried about traffic leakage are the same people that continously push their own website on other peoples website.

    Andrew, thanks for the article.

Hey guys – sorry for the brevity of the article. The flight attendant was yelling at me to shut down my computer, so I had to hammer out what I could. I’m now in Miami waiting for my flight to Key West…missed my original flight thanks to hour delay in Dallas.

I was trying to buy the domain name freelancer.com just last month. I offered him $100,000…but he said he wanted $650,000 and would not lower the price and will only talk to me if i gave him a serious offer near his asking price…i just told him good luck…and i guess he did get some good luck after all!!!

erm…if they are making such a bit play that the have dropped the “GetA” from their domain name….why does http://www.freelancer.com/ redirect to https://www.getafreelancer.com/ even stranger that it redirects to the HTTPS site….I wonder what they are thinking…maybe they have not splashed out on a SSL for https://www.freelancer.com/ yet…
