Domain Name News Bytes for September 15

News bytes to start your Tuesday.

Here are a few domain name news items for the week:

Domain Name Wire Radio is coming. More later.

Parked/Why Park Forum. Parked.com and WhyPark have created a user forum at forum.parked.com. Parked’s Donny Simonton has always been active on message boards, so you can rest assured you’ll get direct access through this forum. Hint: register for the forum to get more content.

Got travel traffic?. If you have a good portfolio of travel domains getting xx,xxx visitors per month, shoot me a note. I have someone who wants to talk to you.

Yahoo’s updated traffic quality algorithm has gone into effect. Some domain parkers are complaining, but many of them probably only make a dollar a day, anyway. Remember: quality of traffic matters!

XsitePro thoughts. I’ve long raved about Xsite Pro. The only problem is I still can’t find anyone that creates good custom templates for it. They’re always so amateur.

SedoPro Partner Forum. Just a few weeks until Sedo rolls out the red carpet for VIP parking clients. Most enjoyable few days you’ll ever spend with fellow domainers.

“Hint: register for the forum to get more content.”

Just as a reminder, the forum is only open to Parked and WhyPark users.

Forum is a good idea. WhyPark’s forum is now there and since Parked.com owns WhyPark, seems like a great idea.

Probably will be low traffic but serves as an official announcement forum and corporate forum.

Re xsitepro, I have tried two “designers” and neither could provide anything above amateur level design.

Let me know if you are a GREAT xsitepro designer or even just an expert.

I agree with comments about XsitePro’s designs. They do look amateur, and borderline spammy. As a previous advertiser here, I hope XsitePro picks up on this and rolls out some fitting updates.

I’m going to tell you something Andrew…..it is not people making a dollar a day on expired traffic that are complaining. Your are sorely misguided on that one.

How about portfolios of total generics that have been registered since 1995 making thousands a day being knocked down to anywhere from 30% to 80%. Maybe your experienced don’t jive with this, but several domainers I know that are some of the biggest in the industry are making plans to leave Yahoo.

You are WAY wrong on this I assure you.

Cindy – down 30% to 80% just since last Thursday? I believe those numbers over the past year or two for certain portfolios, but just in 5 days?

    Yes….Andrew.

Go take a look at how many domains are being transferred away from Yahoo feed partners such as Parked. It has already started. I think a lot of people just don’t want to talk about it because they are in shock and a little embarrassed to admit how little they are earning now.

It’s really bad. The worst case I heard was 80%, but 30% to 40% was the majority.

  7. September 16th, 2009 | 10:10 am

Johnny – that’s rather surprising, since Yahoo’s ‘back testing’ of the changes showed an average 2%-12% decline.

  8. September 16th, 2009 | 10:16 am

Daily Changes doesn’t show any sort of mass exodus on Parked’s nameservers.
