A little R&R, now a fresh start to the week.
Austin gets hot in the summer, and this year has been particularly brutal. So around this time of year my family usually takes off for a week to a cooler climate.
Last year we went to Seattle, which has an average high temperature in the 70s in August. We rented an apartment in an older part of the city. Most homes in the area don’t have air conditioning since you rarely need it. As luck would have it, the temperature spiked into the mid 90s while we were there.
This year we opted for Colorado and lucked out. If we had gone to Seattle, we would have arrived in the middle of a freak heat wave that sent temperatures to 100 degrees.
Colorado was beautiful, with highs in the 70s and 80s.
If you’ve been thinking about travel, now is a fantastic time to go on vacation. My family of three traveled for 4 nights including airfare, hotel, rental car, entertainment, and meals for under $2,000.
I mostly tuned out from domain names while on vacation. Now I’m refreshed and ready to go at it.
As usually happens when I got on vacation, some major domain news came down the pike yesterday in the arrest of an alleged domain thief. (When I went to Cancun a couple years ago I received a phone call before the plane took off to tell me Oversee.net had acquired Moniker.)
