GoDaddy offers gift cards
Wednesday, November 15th, 2006
The world’s largest domain registrar is now offering gift cards that can be exchanged for domain names and other products.
Earlier this year I was on a mission to find a domain registrar that offered gift certificates. I was starting a promotion for Domain Name Wire readers in which I’d offer free domain registrations.
I hit a number of deadends. The only registrar I found offering gift certificates charged close to $20 per domain registration. I realized that giving someone the gift of a domain — a domain they could choose — would be cool but almost impossible to do without a gift certificate. In fact, I even registered the domain name DomainNameGiftCertificates.com back in May.
Now GoDaddy has filled the void with gift certificates good for purchasing domain registrations, e-mail services, etc. You can have your gift certificate emailed for no charge or sent via postal mail for $5.99 each. Certificates are available for any amount with a minimum of $2.
