WirelessPhone.com ends soon

An auction for WirelessPhone.com sits at $52,500 with under a day to go.

Domain market Afternic has been marketing the domain in a special 30 day auction. The auction ends tomorrow afternoon. The domain scores a very nice 1,826 in Overture with its extension. With stats like these this domain should easily top $100k when it closes, but so far has garnered only 2 bids (it started at $50k). Anyone eyeing this domain will wait until the last minute so as not to bring attention to their intentions.

Compare WirelessPhone.com to a few domains that sold at the TRAFFIC auction a few weeks ago: FixedRate.com $50k, Bubbles.com $55k, Promote.com $70k, WaterfrontProperty.com $80k. All of these are good domains and WirelessPhone.com fits nicely in this bunch – especially with high bid values for cell phone keywords.

Afternic has seen a surge of high dollar domain sales recently. SearchTerms.com sold for $15,000, Global-Law.com for $20,000, and NeighorhoodWatch.com for $14,888 (the later seems to be the best deal of the bunch). An auction for DCQ.com sits at $6,615 with under 2 days to go. You can do a search on google to find out why the later is a good domain.

Update: Final price for WirelessPhone.com was $355,000!

Anyone spending that kind of money on overture results alone is foolish. It is easy to set up a bot to query overture for any term with or without the extension.

Then, wait a month for the new overture results to come out and BANG, you’ve got yourself another $50k domain name.

In this case the Overture results make perfect sense. If the domain were lfasjdflsdjvs.com and the Overture results were that high then yes, you should question it.
