Ziplink claims companies’ email services infringe its patents.
A Connecticut company sued domain name registrar and hosting company Go Daddy yesterday in federal district court.
Ziplink, Inc. alleges that Go Daddy’s email services infringe two of its patents.
Go Daddy is in good company on this one. Ziplink also sued AOL yesterday. Its first patent infringement target was Microsoft, in which Ziplink argued that Hotmail violated its patents.
The two patents in question are 7,672,998 entitled “Apparatus and methods for controlling the transmission of messages, and 8,271,596, which has the same title.
Ziplink was apparently an anti-spam company at one point in time.
Here’s a copy of the scant five page lawsuit (pdf) against GoDaddy.com. The AOL one is nearly identical.
