Neustar continues .us marketing with cash mobs.
Earlier this month I wrote about how .us registry Neustar was starting to market .us domains with its “Kickstart America” campaign.
Neustar is continuing this effort with a couple new videos titled “cash mobs”.
The company sends a bunch of customers to a retail store (that uses a .us domain) all at once. The customers have $500 to spend, and the store owner is surprised by the sudden influx of customers. Then the .us team comes in, cameras rolling, to tell the business owner what’s going on.
It’s a clever approach, and it’s good to see Neustar investing in the .us brand.
One such video is embedded below. You can view another one here.

Yeah, way to go Neustar.
I had always been disappointed that they never really promoted .US in the past.
You would think that .US should become very popular in the United States, just as .DE is in Germany. I have always believed it is a sleeping giant.
I think it has a “cool factor” that many other country codes lack.
This marketing campaign is definitely unique and innovative. Gotta give em credit for this one! Hope they continue the efforts.

Most of the real users of .US are recent immigrant Americans who know that the rest of the world looks at American products as something very precious. A t-shirt Made in America will sell in the Far East for 5 times as much as those made in China, and people in other countries brag about using American products. It is time for American businesses to consider using .US as the domain extension for their main website. Look at the picture in your video and you will know what I mean.

Funny how Neustar only promotes .US when time to renew its contract with govt to run the registry.
A ccTLD is SO valuable to its host country and here they are wasting this with NO REGULAR advertising at all, except these cheap last minute efforts at contract time..
‘Let me win so I can do nothing again’ is the strategy. Sounds like Obama.
