Two customers report they were offered free renewals when transferring domains to another registrar.
Two Epik customers say the company tried to retain their business by offering free renewals.
On Twitter, marketer Adam Yamada said Epik called him after he entered orders to transfer his domains to another registrar. Epik offered him free one-year renewals in an effort to get him to stay.
Another Epik customer said he was offered the same deal. Both Yamada and the other customer declined the offer.
One big hurdle for Epik is that customers don’t know who owns the company now. Yamada wrote about his interaction with an Epik customer service rep:
Epik is now owned by some rich rancher out in Wyoming.
He wants to remain anonymous.
I informed him that’s not how ICANN policy works.
It’s not so much an ICANN policy issue as a customer trust issue. Obviously, the previous owners lost the trust of customers. That’s what happens when you owe customers lots of money and don’t renew their domains on time. The only way to win that trust back is to be transparent. And so far, there doesn’t seem to be any transparency.
Richard Funden says
Take the free renewal, then GTFO.
Andrew Allemann says
Interesting point — if they don’t lock down the domains, you could always reinitiate a transfer right away and get two years.
Mark Thorpe says
Pathetic!
BurntByRegisterFly says
LOL reminds me of the old RegisterFly fiasco. They also offered huge discounts to stay all while they were imploding. Back then there was absolutely no icann protection.
Nu says
Offered me the same, but the domains will be locked for at least six months.. I declined and transferred away.
J.R. says
Epik has no shame.
They should sell their book to the highest bidder and exit the registrar business.
They have lost the trust of their core customer base.
They are finished by year end.
Still Owed Money says
Suck on that Rob you disgusting little thief.
Jose says
They have never offered me free renewal, they sent me an email in response to the one I sent to Epik, that I could make the transfers I wanted, I have done them and there have been no withholdings, many facilities.
I received another email from Epik that before raising the price on September 1, point (Com) they would do it for $9.40, 0.50 cents less. This month of August I have taken the opportunity to renew the ones I still have.
Like other domain registrars that do with their good customers account before September 1, 2023
No one has given me anything in this domain industry since 2008.

Today is your lucky day Jose, I have a big hug for you along with Spain women winning world cup. As of Rob (FAKE CHRISTIAN) Monster let’s watch him burn in HELL!!!!!!!
Josh says
If you are doing business with Epik in 2023, you have to be a complete fool. The only exception is if you cannot afford to get your domains out of there. Too many customers to count reported on 400+ page thread on NamePros that they were defrauded by Epik. Why would you trust your names to a Monster? The new Monster is the same as the old Monster. Get out.
Jose says
@Josh Thank you very much for writing that I am a complete fool.
For your information Epik never owed me money, nor does he owe me anything.
I am not a complete fool “like the 400+ pages on Namepros of Domain investors and customer accounts defrauded by trusting their domain sales with Epik”
There are many monsters in the industry and domain market, NetworkSolutions stole 25 Domains (Com) Moniker stole 50 Domains (Com) Godaddy stole 75 Domains (Com) in total 150 Domains (Com) that I later discovered that they were selling at auction Private with Reserve $25,000 per Domain (Com) stolen.
Finally, the one who now owes me money is Godaddy. For a month I have claimed but they do not pay.
Josh says
Hey look, it’s Rob!
Jose says
I have responded with respect, now I understand that there are two monsters, you are Rob’s ghost
Squarely says
Those people need to go to jail , 23hrs 45mins confinement without windows and just 15mins for sheeet outside and shower once every month.
Eugene Fraxby says
I kept some .vc domains with them as end of the day not so fussed if anything goes wrong with them. My .com or .net domains I have been moving and would also reject any free renewal offer.
jiewen yao says
