Company reveals price of acquisitions.
Domain name registrar GoDaddy (NYSE: GDDY) revealed what it paid for five top level domain acquisitions in Q2.
In its most recent 10-Q filing with the SEC, the company reported:
During the six months ended June 30, 2023, we completed two purchases of indefinite-lived domain portfolio intangible assets and related finite-lived customer-related intangible assets for a total of $35.4 million in cash and a variable earn-out of up to $4.0 million.
There is no mention of these purchases in the first quarter report, so these acquisitions must have occurred last quarter, which is when GoDaddy announced the acquisition of two sets of top level domains.
In April, GoDaddy said it acquired .wiki, .tattoo, .ink, .gay, and .health. The first four were from Top Level Design, and .health was a single-TLD entity.
Editor’s note: the original version of this story claimed that GoDaddy acquired two portfolios of second level domains. GoDaddy has since confirmed that the acquisitions mentioned in the 10-Q were for top level domains. I apologize for the error.
