Seven-figure deal includes big geo domain name.
A California company has made a big domain name purchase, scooping up California.com as part of a ten-domain deal for “mid-seven figures”, according to the buyer.
One Planet Ops, which was founded by Autoweb co-founder Payam Zamani, has a number of web properties in the lead gen space. Its most notable domain name is Contractors.com.
Zamani has been a big buyer of domains and web businesses over the past two decades. In 2002 he bought the domains of dot-com bubble victims iMotors.com and CarClub.com.
The company promises that California.com will not be just another web directory, so it will be interesting to see how it develops this geo domain for one of the world’s largest economies.
It’s targeting an early 2019 launch date.
California.com has been under Whois privacy since 2007, at which time the Whois record showed Xedoc Holdings as the registrant.
Let’s what this evolves into. A truly stellar domain.
