Another big company has chosen an alternative to .com.
The company lets you link your credit cards and get cash back when you make purchases at certain companies. The idea is nothing new, but the company seems to be executing well; investors include PayPal and millions of users have registered this year.
How does this relate to domain names? Well, the company uses the domain name Dosh.cash.
Dosh is an app-only play, and if you go to Dosh.cash you will be urged to download the app.
This is a case of the top level domain name nicely complementing the purpose of the business.
Another Austin company with healthy backing–$33 million in total–uses the domain name Data.world.
Would have just contacted the UK dot com owner and had both any ways. I suppose it is a cost and affect issue. If they are not earning enough per visitor then the lost traffic isn’t valuable, yet!
wouldn’t evern like the name if it was on a dot com, could the dot com really be that expensive, Ugly name
Most of these news reports of companies “choosing” an alternative to .com is not really accurate, mostly they are desperate to get the .com behind the scenes.
At one point (when they were very small) they would have thought the new tld was a good idea but the novelty would have long worn off in terms of everyone confusing their name, lost email, and a low level of credibility when they say the url.
So Snoopy…do I know you?…I know Josh:) “Dosh.Cash”….do you even know what “dosh” means? I’d suggest you and your pals look it up. It’s a pretty damn clever domain that has a lot more potential than DoshCash.com ever will. Do you even know what their business model is, and how it involves “cash back”? I didn’t think so. Once you educate yourself, you might learn why it is that I own; “Forever.Cash” Cheers!
Snoopy…do i know you? I believe I know Josh the Tiger;). Curious do either of you know what “dosh” means in Dosh.Cash? I didn’t think so. This is absolutely one of the cleverest nTLD’s I’ve seen, but you don’t get it…sad! Maybe you know what Forever.Cash means….check out the Dosh, LLC business model, and then maybe you’ll understand. Cheers!
weak name. weaker extension. start-ups are six times more likely to fail without an exact match dotcom name. why is this so hard to grasp?
Hmmmm…i wonder if they might be interested in Forever.Cash ???
Looking at both their business model and their balance sheet, the purchase of Forever.Cash may have been timed JUST RIGHT:)
