Domain name registrations provide a hint of what’s to come.
Yesterday I wrote about some domain name registrations made by Amazon.com that foreshadowed product announcements the company is making at AWS re:Invent. The company registered more domain names today that are likely for announcements that will be made during the remainder of the week. Let’s take a look:
AWS Brimstone – I can’t find anything in Google related to Brimstone, so this new service will likely be announced this week at re:Invent
AWS Deep Lens – This one has me puzzled.
AWS Fargate – Another new brand name/service that should be announced this week.
AWS IoT – There are several things in here for IoT, including “1 click”, analytics, and a security product.
AWS Private Link – I can’t find anything on Google about this yet.
AWS Rekognition Video – Amazon announced this service for recognizing faces in video a few months ago. Perhaps some new announcements this week.
AWS Sagemaker – Your guess is better than mine.
AWS Transcribe – Looks like a transcription and translation service on AWS.
AWS T2 Unlimited – Are unlimited plans coming to EC2 T2 instances?
Amazon AWS Time Sync Service – Likely a small produce announcement.
AWS Kinesis Video Streams – Kinesis Streams has been available for a while, but perhaps they are adding new video functionality.
Amazon AWS EKS – Likely “EC2 Container Service for Kubernetes”
AWS Free RTOS – That stands for “real time operating system”
AWS Signer – AWS already has a lot of signing functionality.
Amazon Duels – There was only one domain registration for this one, and it doesn’t mention AWS. Perhaps it is Jeff Bezos dueling his neighborn Bill Gates for richest man in the world.
Amazon.com also registered additional domain names related to new services I discussed yesterday, including Neptune (with graph analytics) and Elemental.
