Aruba, Jamaica, ooh I wanna take ya…domain name.
Brother Records, Inc., the company that owns the intellectual property for The Beach Boys band, has filed a cybersquatting dispute against a tribute band over the domain name BeachBoys.org.
Good Vibrations, which bills itself as “UK’s Premier Tribute to The Beach Boys”, uses the domain name for its band website.
It appears that the two parties have been in contact prior to the UDRP. Earlier this year Good Vibrations added a prominent note on its website stating that it is not affiliated with the original band.
A check of the Wayback Machine shows that the tribute band has been using the domain name since 2002, so it’s interesting that Brother Records is just now going after the domain name.
