New TLDs get exposure at Launch Hackathon

Winner uses .tech domain; others use .Club and other Radix domains.

New top level domain name companies including Radix and .Club got exposure for their top level domain names at the recently concluded Launch Hackathon in San Francisco.

The registries offered domain names to participants to use for their projects. 220 Radix domain names, such as .online, .tech and .space were registered during the hackathon.

Using the domain name Betagig.tech, Betagig won the best startup at the event and received a $250,000 investment. The company will enable people to “beta test” careers.

Two other participants won cash prizes from Radix. Qscode.space, which lets people share information via QR codes, took home a $5,000 prize. PublicAd.space, a directory of outdoor advertising spaces, won $2,500.

I know that .Club has done a lot of hackathons in the past, and I think it’s one of the smartest promotions new TLDs can do.

You are right Andrew, Hackathons are great for domains! At the Launch Hackathon we had 142 .CLUB domains registered (via our event partner Domain.com). Of the 175 official project submissions 79 used a .CLUB domain. 16 were in the top 40, 8 in the top 20 and 2 in the final 6. Our first prize of $6k went to WalkWithUs.club and our second prize of $2k went to NotAFight.club. 🙂 Pictures coming to our blog shortly. 🙂

With Radix and .CLUB in high profile positions the Launch Hackathon and Festival were great exposure for new domains and the entrepreneurs, startups and “builders” in attendance are a great audience for the domain industry.
