GoDaddy Auctions’ September was in line with previous months.
GoDaddy sold 39,071 domain names through GoDaddy Auctions in September, down slightly from 41,291 in August.
The company’s latest Domain Market Report didn’t change much from previous months. “Online” was, once again, the most popular term found in domain names sold through the platform. As usual, Auction and BuyNow inventory each accounted for about half of sales. Only 768 domain names were sold through negotiation.
Here are the top 10 public domain sales from last month at GoDaddy:
emancipated.com $30,000 – sold by Michael Berkens
gett.com $25,000 – bought by GetTaxi.com, so it’s a short version of the domain.
lolo.com $21,000
getcoupons.com $20,000
justlikeme.com $20,000
1dollar.com $18,000
popbeauty.com $10,000 – bought by company that owns PIXI Beauty makeup site
presage.com $9,800
puzzlegames.net $9,800
simplygolf.com $9,500

I have asked this before and never got a straight answer. If 768 domains were sold through negotiations than that means 38,303 were sold as buy now. correct? Which means 98% were sold as Buy Now domains. So how in the world is Sedo and Afternics average of Buy Now sales always in the 45% range and Godaddy always in the 90% range. Makes no sense to me at all. And also, why can’t Godaddy give a more complete sales history like Sedo and Afternic do?

The remainder were sold as a combination of “buy now” and auctions.
GoDaddy has a lot more auctions than Sedo, and Afternic really doesn’t have auctions at all. Sedo also was designed as more of a negotiation system.
