Movie studio gets key domain name for future Wizard of Oz remake.
Turner Entertainment, owned by Warner Bros, has picked up the domain name WizardofOzMovie.com ahead of a planned remake of the 1939 classic Wizard of Oz.
The domain name was owned by a Canadian man who had noted “this domain is for sale” in the whois record and listed it for $500 on Sedo.
But Warner Bros didn’t end up paying the owner directly for the domain name name. It filed a UDRP at National Arbitration Forum and upon receiving the complaint the owner capitulated.
The studio does not own WizardofOz.com. That domain is owned by Don’t Worry Inc, which appears to be a New Jersey computer services company. There are no UDRP disputes pending for WizardofOz.com.
Had Warner Bros not procured this domain name it still had some other inferior ones up its sleeve. It registered WizardofOz-Movie.com, WizardofOz-TheMovie.com, and WizardofOzTheMovie.com in March 2010.
The studio also owns TheWizardofOz.com, although many people forget “the” when typing domain names.

Sounds like Warner likes to stand on
principle.
They would rather pay $ 1,500. plus legal
fees than pay $ 500.
I assume Warner has internal IP counsel and
wanted them to think about something other
than Sheen.
