Company files complaint to get branded 3-D domain names.
Over the past year there’s been a bit of buzz in the domain name community about domain names targeting the increased hoopla around 3-D.
While I don’t think the opportunity is as great as some other people do, I can show you an example of how not to take advantage of the 3-D buzz.
A California man registered 41 different combinations of “3d” and Time Warner’s trademarks. Examples include:
3dtimewarner.com
3dtwcsports.com
timewarnercable3dhd.com
Obviously that’s a big no-no. Time Warner just filed a dispute with National Arbitration Forum to get the domain names.
If you’re going to invest in 3-D names, focus on quality generics.
Thank you – good news.
