Lots of mainstream attention on domain names today.
We’re just hours away from Go Daddy’s Super Bowl commercials and a huge plug for the .co domain.
I really have no idea who the GoDaddy.co girl is. My guess is it’s not someone from Colombia, but that’s about all I have at this point.
I’m thinking that Go Daddy might not actually show who the .co girl is on the TV commercial and instead send viewers to their web site to see the revealing. This would be classic Go Daddy style to drive web traffic.
As for the non-.co Go Daddy commercial, DOMAINfest attendees like myself got to view the entire “web only” version during Bob Parson’s keynote at the event last week.
Competitor Network Solutions is piggybacking on the Go Daddy commercials by releasing a web video called “Go Granny” to spoof the Go Daddy ads. (Network Solutions’ banner ads about the “commercial” have been following me around the web all day).
While this will certainly get them some nice media attention, the video itself falls flat. I stopped watching it after 30 seconds. If you have the patience to watch all four minutes of it then perhaps you’ll get more out of it.

Probably Jenny McCarthy 😉

Just saw this great quote from Juan Diego Calle, founder and CEO of .CO Internet
“I want to reaffirm our commitment to monitor, enforce, and develop the necessary safeguards against cyber-squatting and all other forms of domain name abuse, as those threats continue to evolve.”
What a bunch of crap.
How many of the top 1000 .com sites are registered in .co and going to parked pages?
An example….craigslist.co

Just Zork it!

@Luca: That could end up in a PR nightmare.
Lots of folks now associate Jenny McCarthy with the anti-vaccination campaign she dreamed up a few years ago. Her irresponsible antics have led to serious public health concerns like the recent whooping cough outbreak.
Many innocent children were directly affected by her misinformed hysterics (and husband Jim Carrey). No company in their right mind would want to be associated with that.

They say the person is a “hollywood icon”. I assume that has to do with the big screen more than modeling. But I could be wrong.

CO Internet CEO is simply giving a speech that he knows is being observed by high level government agencies, the speech is meant to be directed towards the government, not towards us the buyers and sellers of .co, that said. there has been some instances within which i lost few .co domain names of mine to trade mark claims, and concepts such as ‘BAD FAITH’ i really could not figure a way to reasonate with the ‘BAD FAITH ‘ claims because according to the reports i read, they saw my photos on my id and it looked like i had registered .co domains in bad faith.
so if anyone can get around the ‘bad faith’ debate on the UDRP claims, it is likely ceointernet will side with you.
unfortunately laws of U.S. are all about ‘bad faith’ as of right now, if your photo did not come out nice on your state id or drivers license, trust me, BAD FAITH debate wins and you end up losing your .co domain name, but if you are pretty looking, bad faith loses the game, and most trademarks are overturned.

I was wondering why the owner of nissan.com was going broke back in 2000’s when Nissan tried to get NISSAN.COM from him, well when a TRADEMARK claim is made, trust me, these guys dont want to give a penny to you if you are not american, they rather spend the money on lawyers and etc to take the domain name from you by force for free.
the money gets spent on america not on intelligence, i guess this is what “buy local” is all about.
