Social networking and adult entertainment company snaps up two generic domain names.
Last week Michael Berkens sold the domain names NoStrings.com and NoStringsAttached.com for a combined $75,000 at Sedo.
The buyer? FriendFinder Networks, a network of dating and hookup sites famous for its AdultFriendFinder.com web site, where people meet for casual sex hookups. FriendFinder was bought by Penthouse Media Group a few years ago, which renamed itself to FriendFinder.
The FriendFinder network of over 30,000 web sites has over 365 million registered users and is growing at a clip of 140,000 registered users a day. Some of its generic domain names include Amigos.com (“Love and Romance for Latinos”), Cams.com (“Free live cam chat”), and Passion.com (“Sexy personals for passionate singles”). It also owns FFN.com for its corporate site.
So what will FriendFinder do with its two new domain names? It’s pretty easy to figure out. I’m guessing a site for hooking up — with no strings attached.
