Domain musings to kick off the week.
Here are some thoughts to get you started this week.
Your Internet Commerce Association dollars at work. Don’t say ICA has never done anything for you. A “friend of the court” brief ICA filed in the VeriSign antitrust case was cited by justices as a major factor in the court’s finding that the lawsuit can go forward. I think that’s worth the $295 it costs to join the association.
Is Paul Twomey still smarting from last week’s congressional hearings? That was an embarrassment to ICANN. It seems that the only lobbying ICANN did ahead of the hearings was to get letters from Al Gore and Vint Cerf. Too bad they don’t serve in Congress.
I’m waiting for the day Moniker synchronizes its whois reminders. Moniker sends out whois accuracy reminders based on registration dates, so I receive several each week for one or two domains at a time. Most registrars synchronize them so each customer only gets a couple notices each year.
We’re less than a week away from Domain Roundtable 2009. If you haven’t registered yet, there’s still time.

Nice to see ICANN and Verisign getting the smackdown once and a while.
I joined ICA last week and strongly suggest that anyone with a domain portfolio that they consider to be an investment, pay the $295 for ICA membership as a small “insurance policy” to help protect the value of your assets.
