Feedback will help shape the future of Domain Name Wire.
I’d like to personally thank everyone who provided feedback to Domain Name Wire through the survey over the past couple weeks. The feedback is extremely valuable and will be incorporated into the site.
Most people said they wouldn’t change a thing, but several people made constructive feedback that will be incorporated.
Here are some stats about the readers who responded:
-60% say the read Domain Name Wire daily or several times a day
-35% have been in the domain industry for 6+ years
-43% own more than 1,000 domain names
-36% make $100,000 or more each year from domain names
-On a scale of 1-5 with 5 being best, 37% gave DNW a “5” compared to other news sources and 63% gave it a “4”. No one gave it less than 4.
Now, onto the good stuff. Here are some comments:
“I like the reporting you did with Godaddy and Neustar. That was real research and hard news. Very few people are doing that anymore. Kudos.” Thanks. It’s hard work and it’s good to hear that people appreciate it.
“Write about more alternatives to domain parking.” I’m on it.
“Breaking news articles about Canadians”. Why are there so many Canadians in this business?
“Well, the news arrives with just a title. I’d like to get at least a paragraph from the article.” Domain Name Wire’s RSS feed includes full content, so this must be how you set up your reader. Try subscribing again and select full text.
“Poor grammar (improper their vs. there vs. they’re, and so forth) and misspellings. DomainNameWire is by far the BEST-written industry coverage, but bad grammar detracts from the content.” I hope my mom doesn’t read this comment 🙂 I try to do a good job getting the it’s vs. its and that sort of thing. But I have to edit everything. If you saw a New York Times’ journalists articles before they were edited they’d be even worse 🙂 That said, please e-mail me anytime you find an error like that. I’ll correct it immediately.
Too many ads makes me dizzy. Fair enough, you aren’t he only one to say that. I’m making some changes to the site to reduce graphical ads but still pay the bills. For example, the in-post ads in the upper corner of each post have been removed. Instead, we’re going to add a new “services profile” ad type that will be at the bottom of each post. The first one is at the bottom of this post.
“I like DNW because its updated daily Mon-Fri with fresh, relevant and interesting content.” Look for a few articles over the weekends going forward. Afterall, domainers don’t take the weekend off.
Thanks again for the feedback. Feel free to send additional feedback at any time to editor [at] domainnamewire.com.
