Live auction this August will feature 450 domains.
Jay Westerdal, President and CEO of Name Intelligence and promoter of the Domain Roundtable conference, announced plans for a live auction at next month’s Domain Roundtable conference.
Last year’s conference had only a small silent auction. This year the silent auction will be nixed in favor of a 450 domain live auction. Domains submitted to the auction will be ranked using an algorithm and the top 450 will make the auction. The “moving” list of 450 domains will be available on a web site for everyone to view. Among the auction differentiators:
-10% commission compared to 15% at TRAFFIC
-Anyone who buys or sells greater than $50,000 in domains will have their conference fees refunded
-Reserve prices that are too high will be penalized by the auction ranking system
-Only .com domains
-Reserve must be at least $100,000, but only 20 domains with six-figure or higher reserves will be accepted
-No more than three words
-Domains must be at least 3 years old
-Domain must be valued greater than $5,000 by the DomainTools staff
-Anyone can bid; there are no absentee fees
-Sellers are not beholden to a brokerage contract if the domain doesn’t sell
It is unclear if there will be a submission charge for domains. If I were Name Intelligence, I’d charge a small (say $5) charge per domain submitted to limit the number of submissions. That would make people think twice before setting too high a reserve. However, this fee might be better received next year so that people can get a feel for Name Intelligence’s selection criteria first.
UPDATE: You may submit your domains for the auction here.

Thanks for the post. When and where can one submit domains for the auction?

Hasn’t been announced yet, even though the auction is only 6 weeks away. As soon as I know I’ll post it here.

Here’s the link to submit your domains:
http://www.domaintools.com/live-auction/
You can’t submit non .com domains. That webpage will appear in a week. You can only submit 25 domains for consideration, so be smart. This makes the evaluation process easier, and allows domainers to carefully find the domains they truly feel have value.
If your domains don’t make it into the top 450 domains selected for the FREE Live Domain Auction at the Domain Roundtable Conference 2007, there will be a soon-to-be-announced domain auction website who will have exclusive rights to feature your domains in their private auctions (after you sign their agreement). They are powerful, reputable, and capable of selling your domains long after the DRT is over. We will announce our partnership with them within a week.
Also, due to overwhelming requests, the DRT ticket prices were lowered to $995. Even better, many domain news sources and other popular sites will be offering promo codes reducing that fee another $100. Keep your eyes out for them, and visit those sites often (like this one!)
For those of you who want to attend our historic Live Domain Auction for FREE and watch it happen, contact us on how to get your room discount the night before (Tuesday, Aug 14) and hit the all day Live auction when you wake up.
Thanks for all your support!

Also, a few corrections in your post, Andrew:
1. The reserve must be no lower than $1,000.
2. Non .com’s will be considered on a different page, but they will be stricter in evaluation for those domains.
3. All the best domains will also be eyeballed by humans, not just considered by algorithms.
4. There is NO submission fee to have your domain considered. However, there is a limit of 20 domains accepted, so be very selective in choosing the domains you want to be reviewed for the auction.
5. A respected partner will pick up the domains not accepted for the live auction and will carry a silent auction for these domains even after the DRT is over.
Stay tuned to Domainnamewire.com for further updates on our revolutionary domain conference.

I posted earlier:
“4. There is NO submission fee to have your domain considered. However, there is a limit of 20 domains accepted, so be very selective in choosing the domains you want to be reviewed for the auction.”
The amount of domains allowed is wrong. There is a correction in the submission policy of the domains and on the site. At the time the submission site was created, only 20 domains were being accepted. However, I’ve learned that you can submit as many domains as you like.
There will also be a Silent Domain Auction in partnership with a reputable domain auction website TBA this week.
