GoDaddy’s TDNAM domain aftermarket is now offering exclusive auctions to its parking service customers.
When GoDaddy launched it’s domain parking service “CashParking” two months ago they threw a wrench in the traditional parking scheme — you have to pay GoDaddy to participate. It seems a bit odd to pay someone money for them to pay you money, but I guess GoDaddy is trying to play to the lowest common denominator. That said, GoDaddy allows you to pay a higher monthly fee to get a better revenue share, which might be a good move for some domainers.
Now GoDaddy is adding a new perk for people that sign up for its CashParking Premium plan that costs $19.99 per month. In addition to paying an 80% revenue share (and you have to assume GoDaddy has a good split with the ad network), Premium plan members now get exclusive access to a number of expiring domain auctions on TDNAM. These exclusive auctions feature expiring domains with traffic and last for only 2 days. Auctions start at $10 or $20 (plus the standard GoDaddy renewal fee). There’s currently less competition for the domains because the bidding pool is smaller.
A quick look at the premium auctions didn’t impress me. None of the domains stood out as great domains, and many of them receive fewer than 10 visitors per month. Most of those visitors are probably from residual search and link traffic, which isn’t as valuable as type-in traffic.
I’m going to test GoDaddy’s CashParking service to provide you with results and help you avoid making a costly mistake. Look for results soon.
