Communicate.com has added preview images to its parked domain pages in an effort to increase click-throughs.
Communicate.com (CMNN.com) owns a number of premier domain names including Perfume.com, Importers.com, Body.com, Boxing.com, and more. It develops some of its domains into ecommerce stores and parks its unused domains to generate ad revenue. The company has changed its parked page templates to include a screenshot preview of each ad’s target page. For an example, see Boxing.com. Communicate.com believes this will increase click-through rates and boost parking revenue.
Parking companies are testing a number of ways to increase click-throughs. (Communicate.com is not a parking company, but uses its own templates and YPN feeds for parking). Many paid domain name parking services are adding colorful header graphics and testing new templates. I haven’t seen any parking company try screenshot previews. It will be interesting to see how Communicate.com’s expirement works. If successful, you can expect to see a lot of domain parking companies try this technique.
