Domain name investors hope to earn a return on domains in a couple major ways. First, we hope to get domain parking revenue. But let’s face it. We really just want to get this revenue while we wait for someone to offer top dollar for the domain.
Many of my domains earn enough in parking revenue each year to pay for the renewal fee. Some earn much more, but most earn less than the renewal fee. This doesn’t discourage me from parking these low traffic domains. I’ll take anything I can get.
You never know when a domain will suddenly get traffic or produce revenue. One of my domains, which I won’t disclose here, has received a grand total of 6 visitors since I parked it about 6 months ago. Until this month it had earned no revenue at all. But then I got a nice surprise – a $6.45 click from a single visitor. That just about covers the renewal fee for another year.
I don’t expect this domain to generate much more parking revenue. But I look at it as a long term investment. Hopefully someone will buy it in a year or two. In the meantime, I’ll just sit back and let the coins trickle in.
