A .US domain name sale has turned heads for the second week in a row. DNJournal reports that Foods.us sold for $20,000 at Sedo. Last week Business.us sold under NDA, but reports suggest it was for over $50,000. Add on top of that a few other .US sales this week: EasyCar.us for $2,443, Nuts.us for $1,650, and ECD.us for $600, and you have to start paying attention. Why the sudden interest in .us domains? It might not be so “sudden”. After all, almost all state governments and cities use the .us domain, so Americans are familiar with it. And Volvo used the domain VolvoCars.us in a Super Bowl ad this year. Will it overtake .biz and .info? That remains to be seen.
In another surprising sale, Annonces.com (“classifieds” in French) sold for €55,000 at DNJournal reports that Foods.us sold for $20,000 at Sedo. A two letter domain, YO.com, sold for $60,000. That seems like a fair price, if not somewhat of a deal for the buyer. “Yo” is a common term and can easily be branded. Rod.com sold for $30,250 at SnapNames. Someone got a heck of a deal on SEI.com at $10,000.
